Abkons is the local partner chosen to work with Dutch engineering consultancy leader Royal
HaskoningDHV on the detailed design of the new integrated commercial port in Porto Romano.
This world-class, technologically advanced, and efficient deepwater green port, will be able to handle
the large amounts of cargo that are projected to enter Albania and the wider region in the future.
The new port in Porto Romano should not be seen as a sole establishment – it acts as part of a larger
logistic chain, presenting the potential to become a gate to the Western Balkans. It connects to a
second, dry port in Prishtina, therefore widening the horizon towards an intercommunicating western
Balkans economy.
As a center for the development of logistics and port-related commercial development in the area of
Durrës and Tirana, the hub will handle transit cargo for neighboring countries.
