Turning Waste into Worth: Abkons’ Circular Economy Initiatives
Waste management is not just a necessity but a responsibility. We are glad to announce that a recent kick-off event in Kukës marked the official initiation of the new ‘EU for Circular Economy – Regional Waste Management Programme’ (EU4CE-ReWaM) in that region, as part of a broader project area also including Gjirokastër-Vlora South waste zone.
The project is funded by the EU and implemented by AFD-Agence Française de Développement, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of Albania.
Abkons is thrilled to be part of the Project in the Kukës area with Antea, as a significant step forward in sustainable development and environmental, establishing EU-compliant landfills and waste facilities and reducing impacts of solid waste. Our involvement in this pivotal project not only reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability but also our dedication to improving living conditions in the region.
The event brought in Kukës experts, local authorities and stakeholders, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Almira Xhembulla and the Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, Hubert Perr, giving details about the programmatic activities in the coming months.
